Applications for admission to the major may be submitted at three times during the academic year: the first two weeks of September (between September 1 and September 15), the first two weeks of February (between February 1 and February 15) and the first two weeks of June (between June 1 and June 15). In order to apply for a major in Psychology, you must submit the application.

The application form asks for your name, KUID number (7digits), and e-mail address. It also asks a number of questions pertaining to whether you have met the necessary requirements for applying for admission to the major at this time. Please be sure to complete the entire form before submitting it for review.

The following are qualifications for applying for admission to the major.

For students first entering KU in the Fall 2006 or thereafter, PSYC 102 is required in addition to the following requirements…

If an applicant meets these qualifications, he or she is admitted to the major. If there are special issues, members of the Undergraduate Advisory Committee consider the special circumstances and render a decision.

There is a space on the application form for you to present other matters you would like the committee to consider in evaluating your application. If, for example, you wish the committee to take into account the progress you feel you have made over the course of you education, or you feel the need to explain a particularly poor grade or set of grades, or you wish to make the committee aware of certain special circumstances that apply to you, then this is the place on the application form for you to do so. The Department of Psychology is committed to promoting cultural diversity in its programs, and guided by principles of affirmative action in making its decisions.
