ISSS Orientation
Spring 2010 Orientation
New International Student Orientation is a program designed to ease your transition to the U.S. and to KU. Graduates and undergraduates, first-time and transfers—all international students new to KU will benefit from this program. Although orientation is not required, we highly encourage all new students to participate.
Why is Orientation Important?- Meeting new people - make friends & Learn about KU campus and the U.S.
- Welcome packet including information about KU and Lawrence
- Complete required immigration, health, and English proficiency check-in processes before non-orientation students
- Receive personal attention and support from Orientation and ISSS Staff Program Activities
- Free shuttles to local banks, shops, and restaurants
- Informational sessions: Staying Legal in the U.S., Enrollment Processes at KU, classroom expectations, cultural adjustment, healthcare and health insurance, safety, etc.
- Learning how to become a KU Jayhawk!
Spring 2010 Orientation
- January 4-8
- A PDF version of the Orientation Reservation is now available and may be mailed in with payment enclosed.
- If you arrive after January 4th, go to the International Student & Scholar Services Office, room 2 Strong Hall between 8 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday, as soon as possible.
- During Orientation you will learn all about KU and Lawrence, complete all necessary check-in processes and get ready to enroll in classes. You will also meet a lot of helpful people and other students from around the world. Four evening meals are included.
- Housing during Orientation cannot be provided. For information on Hotels please refer to the Pre-Arrival booklet on page 9. If you are planning on living on campus during the semester, you may be able to stay in an on-campus residence hall for an additional fee during Orientation.
- Please be sure to plan for transportation from the Kansas City airport to Lawrence. See Getting to KU for more information.
