From the Airport to Lawrence

If you are flying in, you will need to connect into Kansas City International Airport (Code=MCI). The ride from the airport to Lawrence is approximately one hour. We encourage you to carefully view the choices below for reserving a ride to Lawrence before you arrive in Kansas City.

Option 1If you are a new KU international student and will be arriving for the Spring 2010 semester during the last two weeks of December or the first two weeks of January, free shuttle trasportation will be available through a Lawrence community organization. Option 2 You can make your own arrangements for transportation from the airport. A friend, a relative, or a student organization might assist you.


Option 3 You may make your own reservations with a taxi, a commercial shuttle or a car rental company for transportation to Lawrence. (Below are links to four companies currently connecting from the Kansas City airport to Lawrence.)

Alternative Shuttle: Alternative Shuttle: $70 for up to 5 people. Driver monitors flight arrival and can meet you at airport gate. Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance by email (Esther@bats-online.com) or at least 24 hours in advance by telephone (816-588-4301).

Super Shuttle: $109 for up to 10 people.

KCI Road Runner: $35 (may be more depending upon luggage) from KCI directly to the Holiday Inn Holidome (200 McDonald Dr, Lawrence) Makes No other stops. 1.800.826.8294 (Toll-free within the U.S.)

Taxi Service: Please see link for a list of local taxi services. Taxi service from the airport is very expensive. Before entering a taxi, establish the estimated cost with the driver.

Please note - All fares are subject to change and may increase in the late evening/night. For any of these services, it is customary to tip the driver 15% of the charge.

If you would like to rent a car, please see the Kansas City International Airport options. Many companies require that the car be returned to their facility, please be aware of this if you decide to rent one.
